Jo Ann Bender My dear long lost friend,

I'm in Arizona as a winter visitor and am delighted to hear from you. Must have been a fab experience to finish the UNI Creative Writing MA program.

What are you working on now? Or, thinking about writing?

I've finished two books in a contemporary Western series that are now audio books, just like Lebensborn, the WWII novel. Been doing free lance features and was asked to do a construction business newsletter.

Also, thinking about teaching a course in "Writing Your Life Story." Perhaps at the ranch.

Here's my e-mail: budinger.bender@plix.com if you'd like to use this for further correspondance -- which I'd love. You also sent me your contact.

When I think of you, I remember all the fun and mischief we could conjure up together! Also, remember the turkey you forgot in the over?

Warmest thoughts from Jo Ann
Jo Ann Bender I wish I had a good book to read. The winter has been so long that I've been forced to re-read a few. The little Northport Library is fifteen miles away but it's been raining so hard that there may be road washouts. No TV here. That's good. But, I'm missing the folks in the wonderful Australian series: the French Village. If you haven't seen it, it's worth the price to obtain this on Amazon.

Perhaps today is a good day for Gone with the Wind.
Jo Ann Bender Ah, the mysteries of my life - how about "A Weekly Editor's Plot to Save a Young Girl Goes Wrong" - Or, "Job Shopping Adventures in the West,"
"A Year Being Single Again."
Jo Ann Bender As publisher for my husband's premier historical novel: Courage Beyond Expectations, I have been in the marketing mode for his book. We have been visiting Native American tribal headquarters, casinos, museums, etc.

As a writer, I find it wasted energy to try to write and extensively bring out a new work at the same time. This may be possible for other authors, but marketing is a vast job using far different skills.

The current press is vendors for community events. During the recent Rendevous in Colville, Wa., he was pleased to have sold out. Following his invited performance, the local radio station requested an interview. The following day, several men in the area made a special trip to meet him and to buy a book.

At the Rendevous we met the Native American Sandra Ashley (Redpath), an Indian Historican and Cultural Intractor. She gave us tips to aid our first impressions at the Falls Native Pow Wow coming up Aug. 28-30.

The U.S. program to put Native children in boarding schools through the l960's has resulted in the same terrors during their later years as the children born in the 26 Lebensborn homes throughout Europe before and during WWII: shamed lives, suicides, drug addictions, etc.

An intense Native American project is now taking place across the U.S. in their attempt to reconcile and give forgiveness to those who planned and carried out the activities that did such damage.
