asked:
Is the new TV Show Lucifer based of this series? Because it sure seems like it.

I can say from watching some 5 first episodes that it is only superficially based on the comic series - "inspired by" would be more appropriate.
Paul
loosely you can see the vertigo emblem at the end of the show.

I know being published by Vertigo means the comics are intended for mature audiences. What is the graphic content? Language, violence, sexual content?
Kody
Definitely. However none of the personalities, plotlines, or motivations match up. There also is no detective. If had to describe the show, "they turned lucifer into law and order" is what I would say. The tv series Lucifer has a lot of "interest" in mortal affairs while the comic lucifer is completely indifferent to mankind and it's fate. It makes for much more existential horror in the comic series.

Yes, but the main character is much more charming and sweet in the show than in the graphic novel. Very different versions of Lucifer, despite similar goals and hangups. The show is more airy, lightweight and comedic - the graphic novel is dark, "edgy" and (imo, needlessly) grim. The ongoing relationship / romantic tension with the detective, and the entire detective plotline, is unique to the show.
Lori Schiele
It specifically says in the opening credits that the characters are created by Neil Gaiman and a bunch of other people, so yes, the TV show and the graphic novels are related. Mazakeen (not sure how to spell it--but such an awesome character!!) is a name specifically created by Neil Gaiman for the graphic novels and used in the show.
Kristi Blount
The series is based on the graphic novels/comics
