Goodreads asked Osama A. Hashmi:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Osama A. Hashmi People who've been following the tech / startup industry would have seen that in recent years, there's been a general shift towards "lean thinking" as a recommended way of building companies.

I've always been an advocate for the opposite: that great, successful, "world-changing" companies aren't built by playing it safe-and-steady, but rather by tackling tough problems to solve, and leading with ambitious solutions that can capture the attention of an attention-starved world.

I was motivated, then, to put together some of the methods and techniques me and my teams have used over the years to find those types of "10x better" solutions, into an overarching thinking discipline that I'm calling "innovation-thinking". These methods are very easy to learn and implement, and can be adopted by anyone to kick-start big thinking.

I hope innovation-thinking becomes a solid alternative to lean-thinking, and something that refocuses more entrepreneurs on the pursuit of more meaningful things to build. That'd make the world much better, much faster, for everyone.
