From the reviews i read Darrow is basically a Gary stu charcter where he is basically perfect. He may have emotional trauma and such but i absolutely hate it when the MC says their the average guy when they are actually the perfect embodiment of perfection. Is this book like that? Does the MC try to downplay their abilities? Instead of being uneducated and dumb he is able to solve difficult equations so easily.

At first, it seemed like he might have turned out as one, but trust me, I just finished the second book and I can't even begin to explain the depth here. He has flaws galore, and sometimes you really just want to smack him. He's smart, yes, but he's taught. It's not as if he just comes out knowing this stuff. He's trained in what he does, and don't get me started on how many times he'd die if he'd tried to go it alone. This guy isn't a Gary Stu. People try to say he is, but they put the label on everyone nowadays. He's flawed, doubts himself, has fears, passions, drawbacks galore. It really starts showing in book two and certainly in book three. Oh my gosh, don't get me started on book three. And Sevro. I wanted to club that guy in Morning Star.

Self doubt and pressure makes for very bad decisions. (less)
