A Goodreads user asked Charlie N. Holmberg:

I'm currently on the second book of your Paper Magician series and I find that I'm enjoying the books immensely. Something I love about this series is the attention that you as a writer give to detail. I've been thinking a lot lately about Emery's fondness for A Tale of Two Cities. As a lover of the classic story from Dickens, I would love to know: What inspired you to choose that book as one of Emery's favorites?

Charlie N. Holmberg A very good question to which I have a very bad answer. A Tale of Two Cities is something that just came out during the writing process. I guess you could call it something the character decided as opposed to myself--something significant enough that I think it made mention in all three books. Alas, I have no subtle literary awesomeness to offer for the reason, other than Dickens is a genius and Emery has noted it. ;)
