Goodreads asked G.E. Perlin:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

G.E. Perlin While on a walk through one of Issaquah, Washington's beautiful forests. I was walking down a wide trail and it was in the middle of summer and very picturesque. I took a photo of a particular spot I liked. Later on I looked at the photo and imagined it at nighttime; this made it feel spooky to me, so I went in to Photoshop (I'm a Graphic Designer by trade) and changed it to night. Sure enough, it was eerie. Then I thought, 'I could write a book about this.' I have always wanted to write a book about aliens and I thought a pair of fresh alien-eyes peering in the heavens of that photo would look great. It ended up being the cover for part one of my book, 'The Awareness.'
