Marie Sexton First, I would say, make sure you have somebody beta read it. Not your mom or your best friend, but somebody who'll be honest and give you constructive advice (and you need to be ready to hear it, too). Second, don't be afraid to take a chance and submit it to a publisher. I really didn't think my first book was good enough to be published. I might never have sent it anywhere if it hadn't been for the encouragement of a couple of good friends. As an author, it's easy to feel like the book is never quite done, but at some point, you have to take a deep breath and hit 'send'. :-)
