Marie Sexton Sorry for the delay in responding! I never get alerts from GR.

Anyway, thanks for your message. I'm so glad Trailer Trash continues to please. As far as similar stories, probably the closest thing I have is Shotgun (which is part of the Coda series, but can absolutely be read as a stand-alone), or The Well. I don't read in the genre, so I'm not sure which books by other authors are similar. Sorry I can't be more help! :-) Happy Reading!
Marie Sexton My husband has read quite a few of my books, but not all. In some cases (like with Spare the Rod), I ask him to read them as I'm writing in order to give me feedback. He helped a lot with my upcoming scifi novel (he's literally a rocket scientist, so he helped with space stuff). But in general, romance isn't really his go-to genre. He's more into heavy scifi, and adventure type stories like James Rollins. His favorite of my books is Between Sinners and Saints. 😀

Marie Sexton First... I need to fix my GR settings, because it never tells me when somebody leaves a question! I just happened to check in and see this.

Anyway....

I'm not 100% sure about this, to be honest. I've thought about it a lot, but the answer seems to vary from day to day. (The good news is, that kind of waffling often ends up in a sequel, so we'll see.)

At the moment, I see Cody ending up in the restaurant industry. I figure he starts out washing dishes, like he did in Warren, but works his way up to cooking, and maybe even ends up taking some classes. I see him cooking dinner at home a lot, really learning to explore and trust himself. Especially after growing up hungry, I imagine he'd see some kind of real magic in food, and its preparation, and being able to create things for Nate.

Nate... he's harder to pin down. Maybe he ends up in computers. Maybe he ends up doing something like journalism, after seeing how hard it was to find reliable information in Wyoming. Maybe he goes into teaching, or social work. I'm not sure.

I'll keep dreaming up endings for them until I find the one that feels right. :-)

Thanks for the question, and I'm so glad you enjoyed Trailer Trash!
Marie Sexton First, I would say, make sure you have somebody beta read it. Not your mom or your best friend, but somebody who'll be honest and give you constructive advice (and you need to be ready to hear it, too). Second, don't be afraid to take a chance and submit it to a publisher. I really didn't think my first book was good enough to be published. I might never have sent it anywhere if it hadn't been for the encouragement of a couple of good friends. As an author, it's easy to feel like the book is never quite done, but at some point, you have to take a deep breath and hit 'send'. :-)

Thanks for the question!
Marie Sexton Honestly, it's the only thing I've ever really felt compelled to try my hand at.

Back in about 2008, I'd stumbled into the m/m genre and read a few books. I wasn't really aware of ebooks or of the m/m community at the time. I was just scouring Amazon and local book shops for paperbacks. Anyway, then in December of that year, I quit my job of eleven years to be a stay-at-home mom. The plan was for me to go back to work once my daughter started school. But, a few months later, I had a dream about two men in a hallway, one of them very conflicted and tied in emotional knots, and the other one head-over-heels in love. It felt very real and sort of heart-wrenching.

I spent the morning debating if I should try to write it, because I'd never written anything before. I mean, yeah, there was some bad poetry back in high school, but in the intervening years, the only things I'd written were college term papers, and then memos and emails at the office. I'd never even tried to write a book. But at some point, I worked up my nerve and sat down at the computer. Once I started, it became sort of an obsession, piecing that story together. I'd get so caught up in writing I'd forget to pick up my kid, or to feed her. (Bad mom!)

I tried to hide it from my husband at first, because I was embarrassed -- not so much about the subject matter as because I'd never tried to write a book before and I felt like a fraud. Eventually, he asked if I was having an online affair, because I was spending so much time on the computer, so I confessed, and he was very supportive.

Well, that story grew and developed and eventually became Promises. Once Dreamspinner picked it up, my husband said, "Forget going back to work. Just write more books." And although I sometimes I think I should try my hand at another genre, I never seem to have any ideas that don't involve two men falling in love. :-)

Thanks very much for the question!
Marie Sexton Funny story, because my MIL was given a brand new *gigantic* TV from the family for Christmas, but she refuses to pay for HD service, and none of the rest of us will agree to watch the Super Bowl in non-HD. (Snobs, I know.) So, everybody will be coming here for the game. We'll definitely have lots of queso dip, beer and wine, and probably pulled pork sandwiches, or something similar that I can dump into the crock pot and then ignore. :-)

And of course the Coda boys will all be at Matt and Jared's, where there will be beer, nachos, and popcorn. (The latter is mostly for Matt to throw at people.)

GO BRONCOS!!
