When writing a novel, story, or anything romance or about love how should one approach writing it? How should one approach building up intimacy or more specifically emotional intimacy? What's your advice on writing romance or about love or any sort of relationship?
Eloisa James
Well, my first advice is to join the RWA -- over the years I've learned so much both from the organization and from friends I made there. But seriously, I often pretend that I'm watching a movie. And I read movie scripts too. It's important to build intimacy deftly, so that it feels real to the reader, and yet now spent a lot of time wallowing around talking about love. You want to be as real as possible, in other words. I hope that helps! My final advice: read, read, read. When you find yourself loving a romance novel, slow down and ask yourself what is causing that moment of true reader pleasure. Then figure out how to do something like it in your own novel. Good luck!!
