Mohamed al-Jamri
asked:
I'm finding this book very hard to understand. Perhaps that's partially because I'm listening to it (audiobook) rather than reading it. I have watched BBC documentary Human all too humam about him after an advice by a friend, but I'm still not able to understand it fully. What can help me do that (other than changing from audiobooks to paper/electronic books)?

I read the teacher's edition of this book, which attempted to make the text more approachable from an educational standpoint, and it changed my life forever. I was 17 at the time, and it had a profound effect on me. The original text is admittedly difficult to approach, but with a little dialogue and explanation, it's beautifully inspired.
I hope that you can find the teacher's edition of the book, or maybe even look up course notes. Then you can go back and read the original text with greater satisfaction

Wasn't supposed to be understood. Not even Nietzche did.

you should actually read it , it's true that it's hard to understand it but reading is better.

I found his 'autobiography' "Ecce Homo" to be a great introduction to this book.

It May sound childish, but I was facing the same problem, so I tried switching to an e-book & then reading it out loud. I do have to read a few sentences twice, but it has somehow made the book more interesting and easy for me.

This book is absolutely worthless. Did you know that you only need a little poison in a big meal to make the whole thing poisonous? This book is worse, having a lot of poison and little food crumbs if any at all. Why? Because it was written by a person so bitter that he just could not think straight.

This is not one of those books that you can just casually read, it needs (read demands) your full attention. I think reading it would be a better option seeing as you can set the pace, it needs a slow thoughtful read.

Try reading some Plato before, Nietzsche is very fond to talk about him
