Hello Ed! Brackenford exists solely in the (mostly empty) six inches between my ears. :) In the books it's just described as being "in the Midlands" - I left it pretty vague.
It's based on the various riverside towns of Worcestershire, where I live - places like Evesham, Bewdley, Stourport-on-Severn, and of course Worcester itself (my home town).
When I first started writing the series, I drew a rough map of Brackenford on the back of an envelope. I intended to re-draw it on some nice paper at a later stage, but eight years on I'm still using the envelope...
