asked:
Do I need to read the Chinaski novels in any particular order in order to enjoy them or know what is going on? It seems they were not written/published in chronological order in terms of the character Chinaski's life so I assume it's not a big deal but wanted to ask. :-)

No need for that. I first read Post Office, then Ham on Rye, and never felt lost or confused.

I read them in Ham on Rye, Post Office and Women order, which is chronological for the character, but not publication, and it was fine. When you read Ham on Rye first it helps to you to understand him in Women a little better. Publication order would be good too, just don't do Women first if you have a weak stomach:)

Post Office, Factotum and Women read like a trilogy. It's not essential, but I think it's worth doing them in order just to get a sense of his story.
If you do take them out of order, though, I probably wouldn't start with Women, because I think that's when he's least sympathetic.

Reading them in publication order is fine. There's nothing essential lost reading them out of chronological order.
