Dreams, usually. I think of ideas in that dozing state just before you fall asleep, and work out the details in my dreams, This is true of my books, my jewelry, and my digital painting. For years, I kept a notebook next to my bed, and wrote down my dreams as soon as I woke up, and that discipline has meant I am good at remembering such dreams.
