Goodreads asked Joey W. Hill:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Joey W. Hill What I call "the groove". This moment where the writing clicks and you actually feel the flow start to happen, which tells you that you've hit a good vein - the story is working. Close second is the readers, how generously they respond to stories and encourage a writer. Without that encouragement, I think a whole lot of us would give up, due to the sharp ups and downs of the writing business.
