Why is The Emperor's Soul considered to be set in the universe of Elantris, rather than in the universe of The Way of Kings? Seems to be a much much stronger connection between WOK and TES than Elantris and TES.

I would probably have to reread TES and Elantris to remember all this better, and perhaps then I would change my mind.. The magic in TES seemed to me to be -- or at the least be very closely related to -- soulcasting. That would surely connect it more with WOK.

I understand they're all set in the Cosmere (I either wrote it poorly at the time or didn't know it yet); and I understand that Elantris and TES are apparently on the same planet; the magic in TES and the magic in Elantris did not feel the same to me. The magic in TES and WOK felt very similar/connected. No comment on the cultural/structural similarities/differences; my confusion is with the magic systems and how they felt at the time I read them.(less)
