I admit I never understood that some of my readers like Basta. He is a character I pitied but also feared and hated at times, as he turns all the pain and humiliation he suffers into cruelty against others. Basta does feel neither compassion nor love (except for Capricorn) and I tried to portrait someone with him who was crippled by a lack of love and the cruelty of the man he considers his father. So....sadly no. Basta became a nightmare in Inkdeath and was released form the darkness his soul was trapped in when even that existence ended. Which may be the only good ending possible for him. There will be another man of darkness in Color of Revenge, Baldassare, but not sure you'll like him as well.

Before I ask my question, I'd just like to say I LOVE the InkWorld trilogy. I read them back in fifth grade and will be reading them again! I'd just like to know, where did you get your inspiration to write them? I always like to know how authors get inspired to write their books! p.s.: I heard you're making a sequel to Dragon Rider. Super excited about that!!!

Seit der 4. Klasse bin ich riesiger Fan deiner Bücher! Tonnenweise haben wir uns die schönen Dressler-Ausgaben jeden Mittwoch (wenn wir die Sporttaschen dabei hatten) aus der Stadtbibliothek geholt und im Baumhaus gegenseitig vorgelesen. Als "Erwachsene" lese ich jetzt vieles nochmal und fühle mich auf einmal elf Jahre alt - Wunderbar! Welches von deinen eigenen Büchern ist dein Lieblingsbuch? Alles Liebe, C.
