I wouldn't have said "rushed".

My initial thought was that the last chapter before the epilogue was anti-climactic. It seemed to violate the rule of beginning, middle, end. But part of me thinks that was intentional. Perhaps it had to do with the follow-up book A Girl's Guide to Moving On, but I think it was even more than that. Before I turned the page to that chapter, I had almost expected the previous chapter to be the ending.

Throughout this book, I was impressed that it was more than one thing. It was definitely more than a romance. It was also more than family reconciliation. It was more than the story of abuse. If it is anything, it is Life. Other than the big picture that often exceeds 80 years, life isn't simply a beginning, middle and end. There are many beginnings and ends throughout anyone's life and even more so throughout an extended family's story.
