Marie asked Kelley Armstrong:

We got hints in Ricky's behavior that show his heritage: thrill of the chase, loves speed... Some of those qualities are found in Olivia too. But I have a hard time differentiating qualities specific to the fae (aside from talking a lot and the obvious supernatural gifts) from Gabriel and Olivia's individual personality. Can you help me, especially with Gabriel who seems to have beaten his genetic destiny?

Kelley Armstrong With the fae, I'm working heavily with one particular piece of folklore for their personalities. It was believed (mostly post-Christianity) that fae didn't have an afterlife, and therefore they had no reason to worry about their behavior in life. That means any morality they follow is their own choice, and most choose not to bother :) So what you see in those with fae blood is less altruism, less ethical behavior, more of a self-centered focus but also extending that to those close to them with fierce loyalty. Gabriel is fine with all those aspects of his personality. Liv struggles more with them--she's more aware that she's lacking something.
