I haven't read the other series by Leigh, the reviews are very mixed. Is it worth it? I DIED reading six of crows.

Personally, I enjoyed the Grisha trilogy though I wasn't a big fan of the ending (okay, I was really hoping almost the exact opposite of what happened to have happened), however Six of Crows is world's above and beyond; the entire cast is great, the fantasy-heist story is fun with some solid character development and it's a great read.

The grisha books really aren't much more than teenfantasyswoonquickheartbreakawkwarddialogue-books. I guess the world building is good, but really, don't bother. Six of crows is muuuchmuch better.
Sophia
I read the Grisha series first. I definitely think that if you liked this book, you should read the trilogy
Eileen
I read her other series before reading Six of Crows and that was honestly one of the reasons I put off Six of Crows for so long...I thought it was going to be another "meh" book.
Shadow and Bone is worth a read but it isn't nearly as good

The Grisha trilogy is mediocre. Nothing really happens in Book II. I think it would've been stronger if she'd condensed the story into one slightly longer novel rather than thinly stretching the story across three books. I read Six of Crows first and loved it, which was why I tried the Grisha trilogy. I guess I'm glad I have that historical context (the Grisha books take place long before Six of Crows), but the whole trilogy was a bit painful to wade through.

I definitely enjoyed them, though you should know that while they're set in the same world they're almost a different genre from this. Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom are heist novels, with the reliance on cleverness and trickery to outwit the villains and the audience, whereas the Grisha trilogy is a more standard style.

No. If I'm being totally blunt, I consumed six of crows and crooked kingdom., love both of them to death. But I didn't really enjoy the Grisha trilogy. The first book was good, after that, I just didn't like it at all.

I honestly wasn't crazy about the Grisha trilogy. I have the first book and haven't been able to make it through the second. I almost didn't buy Six of Crows because the Grisha trilogy left a bland taste in my mouth. I'm very glad I changed my mind. I have heard a lot of other people say that they loved Shadow and Bone and the sequels, so I think its sort of a mixed bag. I'd suggest borrowing the first book or finding it in a library to see if it's for you.

I read all three books in the Grisha series…..grudgingly. By the second book, I was struggling. The Grisha series focuses HEAVILY of a love triangle, and it often felt forced. Alina assembles friends around her, and as they are picked off and die, she copes by….well….spending kissy-time with her love interests. I felt like the romance aspect really got in the way of the story, and affected pacing negatively.
That being said, I liked it enough to pick up this series and give it a try….and I'm so glad I did! I like Six of Crows infinitely better than the Grisha Trilogy, but it's worth a read if you're intrigued.

The first trilogy is awesome, a must read !

I loved the Grisha Series. I've read all 3 books several times. Book 1 is amazing though... my absolute fave.

I read the grisha series before this and I honestly think it's worth it. If you liked six of crows chances are you'll like the trilogy

You can read the duology without reading the trilogy that comes before it. The first two chapters and terminology might be foreign at first but it gets so much better.

Honeslty? No. This book is the only one that I rated 4 stars, everything else was 3 stars and below. With that being said, the best Grishaverse character is Nikolai, so you're missing out on him, as well as the world-building and lore.

It's the same author as six of crows? Of course it's worth it man!
Alexis Cerrato
The characters and their personalities in the trilogy are the best part. Reading them would be totally worth it.

I definitely read them, Six of Crows was a great intro but to hear and read about the First and Second Armies truly brings even these characters more to life, the nuances and side comments and characters. It help to explain and they are excellent stories, even the fables (novellas). I use them n my English class

Well, I'm obviously not the norm here, but I loved the Grisha series so much that as soon as I finished the 3rd book, I read all three again. I loved the concept, the worlds and the characters. And I'll say right now, having just finished Crooked Kingdom, that having read the Grisha trilogy will be helpful while reading Crooked Kingdom. Read on!!

After finishing this book i do recommend reading the original trilogy, if you don't you'll be missing some of what the book has to offer.
Luna
I recommend the entire Grisha trilogy and the six of crows duo logy. I started with the six of crows but later went back and read the trilogy and loved the SOC world even more when I returned to it. Crooked Kingdom was everything I could want to finish it up.

While I read "Six of Crows," I found myself smiling whenever Bardugo referenced people, images, and moments from the Grisha trilogy. I loved it, and that's why I picked up "Six of Crows" in the first place. I personally think the Grisha trilogy does an amazing job at creating the setting for this series, plus you will get a way better understanding of Grisha history, legend and power. I know Bardugo says you don't need to read the Grisha trilogy to read this story, but MAN OH MAN does it make it so much better.

I personally find the series to be very good. Even though it's not as fantastic as six of crows, i still think it's a very good book.

I read the Grisha trilogy first, so that I would have a better understanding of the setting! I loved the trilogy and recommend that you read it! Leigh had actually put little references in Six of Crows for those who read the trilogy! Every time I saw one of those references I was so happy! The reviews are very mixed, but don't let that dissuade you from a series you may potentially love!

I would 100% reccommed the Grisha trilogy, though the books are meant for a slightly younger audience than Six of Crows. I loved the books (except the last one, I didn't agree with the ending), and I think they're worth reading

I've read the trilogy before six of crows ( mostly because I was about to meet Leigh Bardugo) and honestly it may suprise you in a good way. besides if you who have read it first you would have understood six of crows maybe even better ( even though leigh said you don't need to) but is takes place in the same universe. And also ketterdam is inspired of Amsterdam in the Netherlands ( my home country :D) while the grisha trilgoy is more set in Russia ( I think ) so I suppose it would be good the understand those diverent places even though it is the same universe ( did I even make sense?)
Sarah
The first two books are worth it (if you liked this then you'll probably enjoy the first Grisha series too) but I would stop before the third. It's a disappointment and let's the trilogy down. I hope the Six of Crows series doesn't turn out like that too.
