Hi Darrah, I am on book two. I absolutely love Martin and Henry. However, I can't help but worry about poor little Sam. Please tell me there is a happy ending for him in the works? I want to rescue him so bad!

(view spoiler)[Well, this is a spoiler, I guess, but...I can't tell you that he gets a happy ending. I'm sorry :(
Although the version of slavery presented in the series differs in many ways from US historical slavery, and Henry is more owned than owner, I did want to make it clear that terrible slave owners would exist in their world. Most of Henry's classmates are decent people and treat their companions well, but I didn't want to write a book about any kind of slavery where I pretended nothing bad could ever happen to slaves. The fact is, they're at the mercy of their masters, just as historical slaves were.
I'm sorry I can't give you the answer you want. I hope you can enjoy the series anyway! Thank you for taking the time to ask :) (hide spoiler)]

Thank you for your reply. I saw a poll on your blog about the ideas for stories you should write, I loved them all and as much as I'd love a re-write of AMPP from Martin's POV. I'd also love a book on Jesse and Henry's friends and their slaves and I hope A Free Choice isn't really the last book for Henry and Martin, he does have to marry right? I hope you continue to write. I look forward to your next book.
