Ema Fortunova asked:

Is it worth reading this novel if I hated the Carry On fanfiction parts in Fangirl? Are the format, tone, setting, language etc all the same as the excerpts written by Cath in Fangirl?

Jennifer I skimmed (or outright skipped) the fanfiction in Fangirl, which made me a bit hesitant about Carry On. I am LOVING (all caps totally justified) Carry On, though.
erin I actually liked Carry On way more than Fangirl. Carry On is way better as the actual book rather the small snippets given in Fangirl. If you didn't enjoy them in Fangirl I still recommend you pick it up!
Jenny It's the same world as the fanfic, so the setting is the same. The format is a novel, so it's different in that respect. I was lukewarm on the fanfic parts of Fangirl, but I really loved Carry On. It's clever and irreverent and just fun for people who enjoy reading about magical realms of our reality as Normals.
✨Delaney ✨ I'd say give it a try, I read the Simon Snow books, THEN Fangirl, and liked the books more than the snippets of Cath's fanfiction.
Kami The fanfic parts in Fangirl that Cath read to Levi weren't from Carry On, some of the end-of-chapter excerpts were. The language is the same though, I would say.
bhavana I skipped the fanfiction parts in Fangirl, too- but I loved Carry On so much it made me go back and reread those parts I skipped or skimmed. The tone of the book is quite different and I feel if you enjoyed Harry Potter, you'll enjoy Carry On. The romance in the book is also page turning!
Adrian Conrad I've already read the book 3x, and im still planning on re-reading it ... the lines on fangirl were so boring and is very difficult to understand but carry on is very different ... i really enjoyed it, i know u will too
CapesandCovers No, it's actually far better written (in my opinion) than the excerpts written by Cath. I couldn't stand Fangirl, but I ADORED Carry On. Definitely give it a try. Like Leah said though, it is a bit slow up until "book" 2, but it's slow in the same way Harry Potter starts off
Leah Kessler The fanfic parts of Fangirl were my least favorite parts of the book, and I LOVE Carry On. It's definitely a different voice than either Cath's or Gemma T. Leslie's. It's Rainbow Rowell's voice and we all love that, right? Honestly, this book reminded me much more of Eleanor and Park in some ways then of Fangirl. I did find the first 150 pages pretty dry, but once you get to part two it really takes off.
