Cheryth asked Rysa Walker:

What influence, if any, did the Kindle Worlds and Viking Saga novellas have on the series? :)

Rysa Walker E.B. Brown is a friend of mine. We "met" online back when we were both in the 2013 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards contest and have chatted online and even met up with her in person at a book event last year. I also read her Time Walkers series after the ABNA contest ended, and discovered that Beth is not only a nice and very funny lady, she also writes compelling time travel romance...with Vikings.

As I began writing Time's Mirror and Time's Divide, I knew that I wanted the character of Tate Poulsen to be a Viking historian. So I contacted Beth, told her what I knew about Tate, and asked if she'd be interested in writing his backstory in Kindle Worlds. I sent her rough drafts of Tate's scenes in both books and we corresponded back and forth to make sure that we were on the same page in regard to timelines, characters, etc.

It was a lot of fun, and I'm really happy with the way the Viking Saga stories turned out. We ended up with a great backstory for Tate that I'd never have had time to flesh out in the main series and these "almost canon" stories have been consistently strong sellers in Kindle Worlds. So, I'd say it's been a win-win for both of us. :)
