When I read your books, I get transported to that time period and Blood Rose Angel does just that! I love it! Question: Was it difficult to find medical information about herbs and plants used during childbirth? Were midwives viewed as witches too? I enjoy learning as I read for pleasure! Thanks for a great book!

Liza Perrat Hi Diana, so glad you enjoyed Blood Rose Angel! I love the medieval time period too. Yes in fact it was quite difficult to find (solid) medical information about herbs and plants used during childbirth mainly because most people couldn't read or write back then. So not many records were kept, especially concerning childbirth, from which men (the main writers) were banned. However, I did come across a few texts which were helpful, such as The Trotula and Nicholas Culpeper's "Complete Herbal". Also, the medicinal herbs and plants haven't really changed that much from ancient times, even to our modern times. Midwives were sometimes viewed as witches, but the real witch hunts didn't come until after the time period of my book. However, they were also revered... looked upon with a mixture of fear, suspicion and respect. I hope that's answered your question and thanks for your interest! Cheers, Liza.
