Two phrases:
1) The seat of the pants to the seat of the chair,
2) Don't get it right, get it written.
Please take this advice with a grain of salt. I was blocked for years. It wasn't until I decided to write the book I wanted to read that I found the inspiration. I'm not sure that those two phrases would have inspired any of my other carefully plotted previous novels. Looking back, I realize they were more "paint-by-numbers" than creative inspiration.
Enjoy the process but don't expect it to always be fun.
