Robyn Kelly Yes, this is the same book as on Amazon. The ebook #1 is the first 8 chapters of the print version, and the ebook #2 is the conclusion.
Robyn Kelly Two phrases:
1) The seat of the pants to the seat of the chair,
2) Don't get it right, get it written.

Please take this advice with a grain of salt. I was blocked for years. It wasn't until I decided to write the book I wanted to read that I found the inspiration. I'm not sure that those two phrases would have inspired any of my other carefully plotted previous novels. Looking back, I realize they were more "paint-by-numbers" than creative inspiration.

Enjoy the process but don't expect it to always be fun.
Robyn Kelly I am fortunate that I don't have to earn a living from my writing. I do this for pleasure (though there have been times I wasn't sure about that).

I thought getting my book on Amazon would be the best thing, but now I realize that the process is what I enjoyed most. "It's the journey, not the destination." Funny how those phrases mean different things at different times in my life.
Robyn Kelly Don't just read the books you like. Read books from other beginners in your genre. Notice the things that bother you, and then look for it in your writing. It's often easier to see the flaws in others, while being blind to our own. I have a dislike of unmotivated plot twists, and then spent a week having to rewrite my book when I realized I had created a few.

Be kind in your criticism. Having written a book, I realize now the effort it takes. That critical voice in your head may sabotage your first draft. It kept me from writing for years.

Learn your strengths. Are you better with dialogue or description? Are you better at first drafts or rewriting? Let your strengths out when inspiration flows, and polish your weaknesses when it is still.

Robyn Kelly "The course of true love never did run smooth." I expect Jackson and Jillian will have a few more obstacles in the next book. And maybe the one after that, but no more. Unless I retell it from Jackson's point of view. He's a guy, so I assume he'll miss a lot of the subtext.

One thing I promise is that none of these books will have a cliffhanger ending. I see a disturbing similarity between some authors and drug dealers. The first one is free, and makes you crave the next one. I have a different mantra. One book at a time. I'm a friend of Will S. (he's the guy who wrote the first line of this section).
Robyn Kelly Best Laid Plans is my first book. I have tried to write for years but could never get very far in the process. I believe it was because my focus was on what I thought readers would want. This book was written for me.
Robyn Kelly Some of you may not get past this sentence, but my idea came from 50 Shades of Grey. There was something about those books that drew me in, despite all my inner conflict. Then I imagined how I would react in a similar situation, and the idea started to take form.

Of course, I wouldn't have the patience for some of Christian's behavior, and this is fiction, so why shouldn't the man do most of the changing? To be fair, I changed some things about me, too (in the book, I can still fit into a size 10).
