Something unique I've noticed about your novels is that I find myself getting actually worried for the protagonists. With almost every other book or movie or video game I feel like "well obviously the good guys will win" but your novels are different for some reason. Why do you think that is? Are you just a better writer than everyone else?

This is a very kind compliment disguised as a question, so thank you, but all I can say is that everything hinges on the reader caring about the characters. If it's done right, the fifth time you read it you should still have doubts about everyone making it out okay. None of the other stuff matters if you can't make the reader care about the people.

Do you have any writing exercises you'd like to suggest? I try and write one thing a day, whether it be a book review or a sketched out interaction between different forms of my insanity. What I have trouble with the most is finding a starting point though. Once I get my foot on the ledge I can blather, I just need to find a better way than blindly kicking the rock face as I scramble in the dark.
