If you were asked for a book recommendation for a young adult, what book(s) would you recommend?

Manny Rayner Fiction: The Lord of the Rings, Dune, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, Foundation. I loved all these books to bits when I was 12.

Non-fiction: The Universe Explained to my Grandchildren, What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions. I would have loved these books if they'd been around then.
