KayGreins asked Michael Robotham:

Can you briefly tell me how you write your novels? From the idea to the outlines. Your preferences? And how you write them, the time? Do you encounter writer's block? And how you conduct your researches too. I want to write my first novel, but I'm nervous. I need an inspiration from you.

Michael Robotham Wow! Tough to answer in so few words. I don't outline in advance. I come up with an idea, create the characters and let the story unfold. It's an organic way of writing, but quite scary - like writing without a safety net. I prefer character-driven stories. I do most of my research after I've written the story, otherwise I get too bogged down in research and never get around to writing. The best way to get over writer's block is to write every day and don't be worried about the chronology. Write whatever scene excites you.
