Kirby Brown
Kirby Brown asked Michael Robotham:

Your latest book, The Secrets She Keeps, was so suspenseful, and the characters were all so realistic and developed. Do you plan the story before writing your draft and if so, how do you approach plotting and storytelling?

Michael Robotham It surprises a lot of people that I don't plot in advance, which is a very organic and exciting way of writing, although also a very scary. It's like writing without a safety net and sometimes the landing is ugly and I throw away large chunks of text. But it's also very exciting. If I don't see the twists coming, neither should my readers. My other approach to storytelling can be summed up in three words: MAKE THEM CARE.
