Isaac-I am an aspiring writer in Seattle. what do you find best prompts your creativity?

I like to go on long walks or runs at night, when everything is quiet and empty, and look for weird secrets. I'll run along the Burke-Gilman trail from Fremont to Ballard, then cross the Ballard bridge for a dramatic view of the water and the sunset, and then run back to Fremont on the other side of the water, where the trail runs through all those creepy industrial areas full of old trains and dilapidated sawmills and sections of gigantic ships being repaired. I have a lot of good thoughts on those runs, when my brain is flushed with oxygenated blood and I'm listening to good music.
I also find Discovery Park to be a surprisingly eerie and evocative place, considering it's such a major city landmark. That open meadow full of abandoned buildings, the sand cliffs and fields of heather, that bizarre radar sphere, that rusty lighthouse--it's all very Myst-like and it fires my imagination.
The theme here is walking alone in interesting locations. Just walking and looking and thinking.

This might be too late since it's the day after Halloween. Anyway, loved Warm Bodies and can't wait to read the new installment! My question: let's say zombies are "mythical creatures" for lack of a better term. Are you drawn to the idea of writing a story about any other type of mythical creature, and if so, which one?
