AsamiTheWitch asked Morgan Rhodes:

As the author and creator of your characters, do you prefer killing them or turning them into the worst version of themselves? (Assuming that they're not destined to become morally good characters).

Morgan Rhodes This really depends on the character. Are they someone with an arc that needs to be followed through to the end? Or are they a character whose death or departure from the story will help to change another character? Even though I admittedly have quite a few deaths in the Falling Kingdoms series, I do think that each death served a specific purpose toward the story as a whole and to the characters that continued on. As far as turning a character dark, this is also something I give a lot of thought to. A main theme in a lot of my writing is that everyone has the potential to be good or bad and it's the choices (both little and big ones) that we make on an everyday basis that make us who we are. Does that make sense? :)
