I just finished Rise of the Red Shadow - enjoyed it throughly - and am wondering how much of the "Back Story" did you have planned as you wrote the first three books, and how much did you have to imagine for this novel based on what you had already written of Lain?

Hi Joseph: I'm into the third Shards of Shadow book. I have a question about Blot. She's so funny and such an interesting, rogue-ish type of character. What was the inspiration for her personality and her voice? She gets some of the best dialogue in these books!
