Everyone always asks what your biggest inspirations are etc to authors, but im generally curious what inspired you? Simply because your thoughts you put on paper are so similar to the way i think, id love to expand my mind with what inspired you

In interviews I always give Douglas Adams and Dan Simmons as answers, but I always feel like that's short-changing a gigantic list of writers, some of whom aren't terribly famous. I started writing on the internet imitating comedy writers like Erik Wolpaw and Seanbaby and the MST3K gang ... I've read dozens of books by Dean Koontz and Stephen King, I love CS Lewis's books on theology, and Malcolm Gladwell's essays, as well as the mysterious genius behind thelastpsychiatrist.com. But it just feels like an interviewer would be disappointed with, "Oh, there were a bunch of gaming blogs I used to read in the late 90s, it was mostly that."

First of all, thank you. For your sense of humor, your writing style, your characters, your responses to FAQs, your Cracked articles, your hilarious Animal Crossing tweets, and, most importantly, for continuing to write new books! Secondly, do you have any book recommendations? Horror-comedy or otherwise? I'm always told it's a good idea to read your favorite author's favorite books, so what or who do you recommend?

I've always been such a fan of your work; from your Cracked articles to your novels (I just preordered "What the Hell Did I Just Read"). Your writing style is so down-to-earth and topical of my generation. It's all so inspired. If I sent you my personal copy of "John Dies at the End" with a return package, would you sign it for me? It'd be an honor. If not, regardless, I'm writing to thank you so much for your work.
