As soon as I did, I ordered the three previous books and started over. Sadly, though, I ended up inadvertently having gotten a lot of spoilers that way :(

Winter Street is a fast read and lots of fun. So I definitely would recommend starting at the beginning. I think you will understand the characters much better that way. Do you have to? Nope... even starting on Book 4, I was able to piece together the back story enough to keep up. But why deprive yourself of a fun holiday read?(less)
