The first thing you want to do is just get started. Your first book may not be your best, or even very good, but if you never finish it, you can't move forward. Get in the habit of starting and finishing your books. Once you are doing that you can start to work on polishing your craft and making each book better than the last.
There is a lot to learn in this business. Don't get discouraged, take your time, and stay positive. Just like every other business the harder you work, the more you get out of it.
