Dear Ann, I enjoyed Ancillary Mercy as much as the previous two parts. To be honest I was really scared Breq will end up dead at the end of the series, and I'm so happy you chose differently. Well ... Amat's will ;) What I would like to know is how do you come up with so many great names for your characters? Do you look into other languages, or they just happen in your head?

Ann Leckie So, it's a combination of looking at other languages and just straight-up making things up. I actually often use a random name generator, that I can plug parameters into (if I want a name to start a certain way, or be a certain length, or whatever) and then keep refreshing the results until I find something that sounds right. This can take some time, but it's totally worth it.
