Mark Lawrence I don't think I'm very disciplined at all. I write at random times in random amounts around the other things I need to do. I think my secret is that I only write once. I never throw anything away or rewrite it. This helps a lot. You can write a decently sized book in a year if you average 300 words a day. 300 words really isn't very many.
