Would you make a good Empress of Ancient Rome, with all the intrigue and what not?

Kate Quinn Goodness, I have no idea. If I could be Empress for a nice guy like Trajan who would pretty well let me lead my own life, I could probably manage. Unlike today's political wives, Empresses did not have to maintain perfectly bland public images for fear of hurting their husbands' re-election chances, so I'd probably be a bit eccentric: cheer the Reds, travel to Britannia, get involved in temple-building, write books. But if I had to be one of those empresses who walks a tightrope like Domitia or Sabina, then no. I really don't have the patience to balance on a razor's edge for ten years hoping I don't get murdered.
