Jamie Lynn asked Paula Brackston:

I just read The Witch;s Daughter. I cannot wait until March to continue the tale. What was your favorite time era to write Bess in? I really liked your take on Jack the Ripper. Well done!

Paula Brackston Hi, thanks for your question. I'm glad you enjoyed The Witch's Daughter, and hope you like the way the story continues in The Return of the Witch next spring.
I find using a real life incident or character around which to build a part of my book helps give me focus, and maybe helps the reader to better imagine the action and setting. That was what led me to use what we know about Jack the Ripper. In part of The Return of the Witch the story takes us back to Victorian London, so there will be more of that to immerse yourself in.
I enjoy working in different eras. I think I would get bored if I just stuck to one time. I am particularly drawn to the seventeenth century part of The Witch's Daughter, but I think that has more to do with it being Bess's home than the era itself.
Let me know what you think of the sequel!
