Matheus asked Joseph Delaney:

I think all of us who we want to become writers, suffer from the frustration that our stories are not good enough. You experienced it? Is there any way to stop these insecurities in relation to own writing?

Joseph Delaney There is no easy answer to this. I think the process of rising above such insecurities is probably different for each potential writer of a published book. But I think it is something most feel - I certainly did. I think the act of writing routinely helps you overcome this. You do get better after practising. After all writing is a craft and has to be learned. I think it is better learned alone than being taught by some writing school or teacher. An outside 'trainer' will shape you into a different writer than had you worked at your own development.

Ideas are vital. The lack of confidence may arise from basing writing around ideas that are neither strong nor original. The idea is the key. Write all your ideas into a notebook. I sat on the idea for the Spooks Stories for over 18 years! But as soon as I started to write 'The Spook's Apprentice' my confidence grew. It felt right. At last I had found the one that would get me published. Good luck but search for the idea!
