Hey Melanie! I just want to say that your books are some of the best book I have ever read and it's partially because of your books that I started liking to read. I never really read a lot and after my sisters told me about your book I couldn't resist because I love fairy tales! I read the Healer's Apprentice and absolutely fell in love with it. How do you come up with such perfect characters?

Thank you so much, Araceli! I feel so honored that I helped you, in any way, learn to love reading! Reading is such a worthwhile pursuit and helps us grow and learn to feel empathy for others . . . among other benefits. :-)
My characters usually evolve along with the plot in my mind when I'm loosely plotting in my head. And then once I start writing, the characters subtly change into who they are meant to be--before they change and grow by the end of the story. It's a process. :-)

Melanie Dickerson:
Hello. I just discovered your writing this year and have fallen in love with it. I noticed as I was looking at your fairy tale retelling series that the first five books were published through Zondervan, but books 6 and 7 were published through Thomas Nelson. As an aspiring writer myself, I'm trying to get a better understanding of the publishing world, so I am just curious as to why the change in publishers?
