Is anyone else struggling to get through this book? In some parts, it's fascinating and I am pulled in, but in others I just want to read through it to get it done with. I'm not usually like this when it comes to books, and hoping it's not just me. I almost want to give up on it and find another book.

I finished it last night as well and I'm still frustrated. Why did we have to go through what felt like a 100 pages of her a get at Mate for leaving? Why didn't she just go there first if she knew that's where he went? The book would have ended a heck of a lot sooner and I probably would have wanted to keep reading. The only reason I did was so that I could find out what happened to Gabriel all those years ago. Augh!

I got about half-way through, decided I'd had enough, and skipped to the end. Then, of course, I had to know how the ending came about, so went back and tried to plow through some more. Got frustrated again and skipped about one-quarter of the book, found a good starting point leading toward the ending, and was fine with that. As someone else mentioned, the story was way too drawn out; it needed MUCH tighter editing. Even having skipped well over 100 pages, I didn't feel like I missed anything.

I'm just reading this book. My thoughts are the same. First I ment it's because of the translation, I read it in German. But as I see now, I'm not the only one with dose thinkins. I'm half through now, so I just keep on going and hope the best :)

I had the same issue. I finally finished last night and it felt like it took forever. In the end I mostly enjoyed it and it did speed right up at the end.
