Cornelia Funke:
Cornelia Funke, I really adore your books. My favorite part was everytime I went to a new chapter and you quoted my other favorite book. What I really love about your books are the villains. Who's your favorite villain of your own books?
Cornelia Funke
Interesting, Aurora!:) There are very different kinds of villains and I always try to make evil a very real thing. I think it is always something crippled, torn, broken, and that it for sure shouldn't be glamorized - which so often and so easily happens. But there is a difference between true evil and shadows for me. I definitely don't like Capricorn (he was very difficult to write) and I don't like Basta (though many readers do) I only pity him. I despise Orpheus (probably in some way my favorite villain) and wished to kill him in Inkdeath, but he escaped. But then there are Nerron and Spieler from MirrorWorld, who have a lot of darkness and are nevertheless two of my favorites, as is the Dark Fairy......hmm....maybe I look at villains in a different way through the mirrors:) In that universe I dislike Jacob's father intensely - though he is only weak and vain:)
