I would love to read an alternative novel for Oliver Twist in which his mother lives and affects his livelihood. I want to see how will she integrate in the society, how will the 19th century England society perceive her and Oliver. What are the chances for him to prosper in fortune and social status with his sinful mother alive. Of course, the novel is originally written for the public and I conceive that pleasing the readers is a priority to Charles, therefore the he will find a way to wrapping up the story happily. (less)
