Gennifer Eccles
Gennifer Eccles asked Miranda Kenneally:

When writing Jesse's Girl, did you already have Jesse's name in mind before you figured out the title? Or did you name your male protagonist Jesse so that the title could refer to the famous song of the same name by Rick Springfield?

Miranda Kenneally Hi Genni - Jesse got his name long before the book found a title. The original title was "Best Day Ever," but my publisher wanted something catchier. One day, author Tiffany Reisz, who had read a draft of the book and absolutely loved Jesse's character, went to a baseball game and the song "Jesse's Girl" came over the loudspeakers. She thought of my book and immediately sent me a tweet suggesting I name the book after the Rick Springfield song. I shared it with my publisher and they loved the idea! :) PS - Tiffany has even written a few (very naughty) short stories about Jesse. You can find them on her website if you look carefully. ;-)
