How does it feel when you publish a new novel? Is it as exciting as the very first?

Gail Carriger I always get a little thrill when I see my books on a shelf in some random bookstore or library. However, I have, sadly, lost the excitement of seeing the new book in my hand when the publisher mails out my copies. I guess I'm jaded. Which makes me a little sad. I never thought I would be. These days the biggest thrill for me is when I reach the end of a rough draft. I know that I am done with the hardest part.
