Any recommendations for a good book about winter that makes me glad I can sit outside and read for a couple more months?
Will Schwalbe
What a cool question! One idea would be SMILLA'S SENSE OF SNOW by Peter Hoeg. It's a thriller and it has a lot about, well, snow. Two non-fiction books I can very highly recommend (I actually edited both of them when I was at Hyperion) are ADA BLACKJACK and THE ICE MASTER by Jennifer Niven. Both are amazing true stories of the Arctic. ADA BLACKJACK chronicles one woman's survival against unimaginable odds; THE ICE MASTER is about a disastrous voyage of exploration. Another idea would be INTO THIN AIR by John Krakauer, which is about an Everest expedition that goes terribly awry.

Will Schwalbe:
I finished A Tale for the Time Being and loved it. I am currently reading The Headmasters Wager but while I can admit it is well written i am not enjoying it. Usually it is because I don't enjoy the subject matter but having recently read, The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan, which is certainly not a light-hearted or easy read and which I can not praise high enough, I am not sure why I don't like it?

Will Schwalbe:
Hi Will, I loved your books! However, in the middle of the covid pandemic, I realized that I do not want to read books that are sad. So looking for uplifting fiction, my favorite book this year is The Story of Arthur Truluv by Elizabeth Berg. She also wrote a couple follow ups and I read Night of Miracles. There are so many books to read but currently I can't bother with ones that will depress me. What do you think?
