I finished A Tale for the Time Being and loved it. I am currently reading The Headmasters Wager but while I can admit it is well written i am not enjoying it. Usually it is because I don't enjoy the subject matter but having recently read, The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan, which is certainly not a light-hearted or easy read and which I can not praise high enough, I am not sure why I don't like it?

So glad you loved A Tale for the Time Being. I must read The Narrow Road to the Deep North. Thanks for reminding me. I'll move that to the top of my list. As for The Headmaster's Wager -- I'm curious how far along you are. It becomes a very different book than what you think at first it is going to be. That said, it would be a very boring message exchange if we agreed completely on every book. I'm working on getting a draft of the new book done -- so not much time for reading (except books that relate to that).

We haven't spoken for a while but I just read your reply about When Breathe Becomes Air and have just started it. I hope your book is coming along nicely. I have read some wonderful books so far this year I hope this one is as good as everyone says it is. A Little Life nearly destroyed me, what a story. I love reading what other people think of your book, you have helped so many, better than any review from a critic?
