I would like to know how you start a book. Do you have a certain theme in mind and create a story around it or do the themes show up during writing? The characters in your books are always so lovely, very human people who make mistakes. When I finish one of your books, it always feels like saying bye to a friend. Do you have like a secret method for making them so human? :)
I don't outline my books, or plan every single chapter. But I don't start without what I call my "skeleton": first scene, pivotal scene, last scene and first line. That way I have a BIT of a roadmap, but room to fill in things as they come to me.
