(view spoiler)[Could you explain to me all the time-travel stuff that's going on? the official theory you are employing that explains why this is all only just starting to affect the memories of people and only in pieces (why doesn't Ash remember Nick's Arel girlfriend? wouldn't that be a dead giveaway?). And why some changes don't seem to matter (Maxis's wife letting her entire tribe go back in time) but other's do (Ambrose's) ? (hide spoiler)]

It's not "just," it's always been there. Ash doesn't remember Kody because she doesn't appear around him and she wasn't there originally. She goes out of her way to avoid him because he will know who and what she is. She "pops" out every time he nears her in every book. Not to mention, it hurts her to see him. She can't handle the pain of being around him.
As for the tribe, it was always in the past. That's where they lived and were supposed to be. That didn't change anything. It was their time period and they wouldn't have affected anything important as they would have been living "normal" unremarkable lives there. Ambrose, on the other hand, is making a conscious effort to go back and change key events in his life. He has a map he's following that he's trying to unravel. That's the difference. So while the tribe might have changed subtle things, it would be subtle. Ambrose isn't being subtle. He's sledgehammering walls.
Hugs!
